About the videos for IC #3

Plum StThe guys at Plum St. Productions did an amazing job for us at Ignite Cincinnati #3 capturing the whole thing on video. Most Ignites get videoed, typically with a single fixed camera. I thought I had improved on thing a lot during our first two events by using TWO cameras… but of course they were still locked down. The serious limitations of this became obvious to me when it came to the show-stopping presentation by Rick Payne. Everyone there that night knows how powerful it was that he came back out and sat and talked to the audience for a lot longer than his presentation had been. It was a format breaking event unlikely to be repeated, but it also totally broke our ability to capture it and we have no good video of this. We’d have almost no record at all except we were lucky enough to have the great roving photography of Vince Rush going on that night, and those photos ended up in the Enquirer.

So now we’ve got Plum St. taking care of video. With three cameras, two camera operators and live production going on it is a major production compared to before, and the results show it! I think we may now have the best video coverage of any Ignite in the country.

Besides covering live events like Ignite Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Roller Girls they also produce cool films and commercials (including a political ad for Chris Seelbach who incidentally rocked the house at the first Ignite Cincinnati).

Please give a shout out (or tweet) to @PlumStFilms thanking them for their support, and when you see them at the next event let them know you appreciate their efforts to both capture the talks for posterity and live broadcast the event to people who can’t get there in person (or fit in the building!). And a special thanks to Kevin Necessary for all his work editing down the individual videos for online viewing.
